Robbers target homeowners taking out the trash in Phoenix
Phoenix police officers are warning members of the community to remain vigilant following two separate house robbery incidents.
In the first incident, it is alleged by the complainant that she was at her place of residence on Wheatbrook Place when she was accosted by two suspects.
Cpt Louise Naidoo, communications officer of Phoenix SAPS, said, “Her domestic worker, who was with her, went outside to throw out the trash when she saw an unknown man in the yard. This unknown man produced a firearm and pointed it at the homeowner and the domestic worker. A second suspect entered and they both demanded for cash as well as other valuables. The suspects fled with a Huawei cellphone, valued at R2500 and one Mobicel phone, valued at R1500. No shots were fired.”
In a second incident in Diblen Crescent, a 44-year-old homeowner was at her residence with her two daughters, age 17 and three, when they encountered a similar situation.
“When she went out to dispose of the trash, she was approached by an unknown man with a firearm. He forced her back into the house when a second suspect came in and searched the house. The suspects made off with a Mobicel phone, valued at R900 and a Vodafone tablet, valued at R1000,” concluded Cpt Naidoo.
