Shocking finds during Leisure Bay clean-up

Cleaners have found a lot more than they bargained for.

A one woman’s crusade against litter is making a difference to the village of Leisure Bay in KwaZulu-Natal, the South Coast Herald reports.

Vanessa Murray, off her own bat, is cleaning every stand and street.

While Vanessa and well-known TV personality Phillip Lennon – who  started #lookingafterleisurebay – have been out and about on their mission, they have stumbled across many horrific findings – one being the carcass of a monkey that appears to have been shot with a crossbow.

Another disturbing find made yesterday (July 20) was hundreds of disposable nappies dumped into the Thongazi river.

“It appears that a contractor may be responsible for doing this. The nappies are all in black bags. This is happening across the road from the Thongazi Caltex garage about one kilometre upstream from Glenmore’s main swimming beach.”
