Shopkeeper shot in Durban armed robbery

The suspects fled the scene with two cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash.

A shopkeeper was shot in the foot during an armed robbery at Kensington Square in Durban North on Friday morning, the Northglen News reports.

Marshall Security’s Kyle Reenen said: “Two suspects stormed the cellphone store at around 10.30am demanding cellphones and cash. The suspects were allegedly armed with handguns and during the armed robbery one of the suspects fire a shot, which struck the 26-year-old man in the foot.”

Crisis Medical paramedics stabilised the man at the scene, and he was later transported to Addington Hospital.

Candace Grondein, property manager for the centre, confirmed the incident.

The suspects fled the centre on foot with two cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash, and are still at large.
