Sole survivor key to solving mysterious deaths in Pretoria

The surviving woman who was found unconscious and transported to hospital in a critical condition is said to have recently regained consciousness.

The only survivor of a tragedy that saw three people die at a Menlo Park house, could help investigators piece together the mysterious deaths that shocked Pretoria a week ago.

Well-known Pretoria property developer, Theo Kleynhans (60) and his colleagues Mario Pretorius (23), and Chariska Kloppers (30) were found dead at the house on Hazelwood Street.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding the deaths have only fuelled suspicions of spiked drugs and according to investigators, only one person can help solve the case.

The surviving woman who was found unconscious and transported to hospital in a critical condition was said to have recently regained consciousness.

Some of the drugs found at Kleynhans’ property.

Part of the private investigating team, Werner Koekemoer of the Specialised Security Services, said the woman’s recovery was key to the investigation.

”She is conscious in hospital and we are hoping we will be able to speak to her,” he said.

“We are told that she is not allowed to speak, but we are hoping she can assist.”

It was believed the group had gone out for drinks the Friday night when they later took the party back to Kleynhans’ entertainment house.

Large quantities of narcotics (which included crystal meth) and alcohol were found at the house, according to investigators.

Several possibilities were being investigated including an overdose on a cocktail of drugs.
