Stage 2 load-shedding for weekend peak hours

Breakdowns and delays in returning units at several power stations to service have resulted in extended load-shedding.

Eskom has announced that load-shedding will continue into the weekend.

Units at Koeberg, Kusile and Tutuka power stations have been delayed in returning to service. In addition, one unit each has broken down at Camden and Medupi power stations, two at Hendrina and four at Arnot power stations.

Currently, 3 571MW is unavailable due to planned maintenance, while 15 624MW is unavailable due to breakdowns.

Eskom says the power cuts will assist in replenishing emergency generation reserves, which have been used to meet electricity demand during the past few days.

Stage 2 load-shedding will be implemented from 16:00 until midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
