Stage 2 load-shedding to be implemented today
Eskom warned there is a high possibility that load-shedding would also be implemented on Wednesday and Thursday.
Eskom has announced that stage 2 load-shedding will be implemented today between 16:00 and 24:00.
According to the power utility, this is because of a shortage of generation capacity.
“There is also a high possibility that load-shedding will be implemented during the same time on both Wednesday and Thursday evenings,” Eskom said in a media statement.
Breakdowns of generation units at Arnot and Tutuka power stations, as well as the delay in returning units to service at Arnot, Kusile and Tutuka power stations have put strain on the power generation system.
“We currently have 4 550MW on planned maintenance, while another 14 182MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.”
