Stolen construction machine tracked from Alberton to Turffontein in minutes
What began as an armed robbery took an unexpected turn when the stolen machine was traced to another part of Johannesburg.
A stolen TLB construction vehicle was recovered in Turffontein minutes after being taken during an armed robbery in New Redruth, Alberton, this morning (September 7).
According to Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director of CPS Security, about four to five suspects forced their way onto the premises and held the occupants at gunpoint before fleeing with the TLB, reports Alberton Record.
Van der Merwe said the vehicle’s tracking device was activated after it was stolen, immediately alerting the security company’s response team.
The team responded and tracked the TLB to Turffontein, where it was recovered within minutes.
Van der Merwe said the vehicle was recovered in good condition and handed back to its rightful owners.
No one was injured during the incident, according to Van der Merwe.
Alberton SAPS attended the scene, and police are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made at this stage.
