Suspect taken in for questioning in Pietermaritzburg murder

Swift police work from members of the Mountain Rise Crime Prevention Unit resulted in a person of interest being taken in for questioning following the brutal murder of a man in Vinca Place, Bombay Heights, over the weekend.

Swift police work from members of the Mountain Rise Crime Prevention Unit resulted in a person of interest being taken in for questioning following the brutal murder of a man in Vinca Place, Bombay Heights, over the weekend.

The body of Meeshal Gungapersad, a former Public Eye employee, was found in his backyard early this morning.

Warrant Officer D Pather and Sergeant N Peters, acting on information received, took the suspect in for questioning. He was found with the deceased’s house keys.

Policemen on scene.

Police are still investigating but it appears the suspect and Gungapersad had been embroiled in an altercation during the weekend which may have led to the fatal assault.The suspect and Gungapersad were friends.

Police investigations continue.
