Suspect urged to reveal truth behind missing Mooi River couple
A man arrested in connection with a couple’s disappearance from their smallholding is due to again appear in court on March 18.
After seven months, the mystery surrounding the disappearance and presumed murder of Mooi River couple Tony (73) and Jill (78) Dinnis may finally be unravelled.
Twenty-two-year-old Lungelo Mkhize appeared in the Mooi River Magistrate’s Court yesterday, on two charges of kidnapping and one charge of extortion in relation to the couple’s disappearance from their rented smallholding in Middelrus in August.
The extortion charge relates to ransom demands that were made for the couple’s return.
Mkhize, who was dressed in a plain blue pullover and pants, kept his head down for most of the brief proceedings.
The court was packed with family members, friends and community members who knew the couple and have been hoping that their bodies will be recovered.
