Suspected serial robber arrested in KZN

Law enforcement agencies came together to ensure the arrest of a man believed to be involved in identity fraud and robberies.

A 38-year-old man was recently arrested in Illovo, eThekwini, for being in possession of several fake identity documents, an illegal firearm, and ammunition.

Durban metro police spokesperson Colonel Boysie Zungu says the man is suspected of being behind a string of armed robberies in Amanzimtoti and Lovu.

“The suspect was apprehended in Phase 2, eMasosheni, but he tried to flee from the officers. His attempt proved unsuccessful, and he was captured,” says Zungu.

Zungu attributed the arrest to investigators from the Amanzimtoti SAPS and Durban metro police working together.

“This arrest was a demonstration that the municipality is committed to curbing crime in the city,” he says.
