Suspects using dating app for sadistic purposes behind bars in Joburg

The men will be charged with robbery and rape.

Two suspects, using well-known dating app Grinder, to lure men to a flat in Johannesburg to rape and rob them, have been caught.

Linden Police Station’s communication officer Sergeant Takalani Sibiya says the suspects will be charged with common robbery and rape.

“The two suspects were terrorising the community of Windsor through this dating app. They were inviting males to a particular flat in Windsor with the intention of meeting their ‘blind date’, only to find that they would be robbed and raped.”

She says that several cases were opened at the Linden SAPS and detectives worked tirelessly to apprehend the suspects.

“The two suspects will appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon.”
