Taxi driver found dead on N12 near Potchefstroom
A taxi driver (48) was found dead in a stationary taxi on the side of the N12 outside Potchefstroom yesterday afternoon (December 19) having suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

Potchefstroom Police are searching for unknown suspect/s who allegedly shot and killed the taxi driver who was driving from Klerksdorp back to Johannesburg on Sunday evening.
According to SAPS spokesperson, Col. Amanda Funani, the victim’s taxi was spotted along the road with hazards lights on by a fellow taxi driver who was also driving back to Johannesburg, and went to check.
“Upon checking, he found the driver lying in a pool of blood. He also realised that the vehicle’s window were shattered,” stated Funani.
According to police, the motive for the killing is still unknown and investigation into the matter continues. The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, condemned the incident and urged the public to come forward and assist the police in arresting the alleged perpetrator/s.
