Taxis torched a day after fleet owner killed in Polokwane

Police are yet to confirm whether the arson and murder are linked.

Two taxis were torched at a taxi rank in Polokwane this morning, a day after a man believed to be a taxi fleet owner, was murdered at the same place.

Commuters from Extensions 71 A and B discovered the torched taxis at the extensions’ main taxi rank.

Yesterday, a man, believed to be the owner of a well-known fleet was shot and killed at the city centre taxi rank where the extensions’ taxis are stationed.

A witness told the Polokwane Observer that there was a pool of blood where he was shot and added that the man was a familiar face at the taxi rank.

Police have not confirmed the incident nor provided any of the deceased’s details while efforts to reach the Seshego Polokwane Taxi Association spokesperson Ally Mothiba were unsuccessful at the time of publishing.
