KEMPTON PARK – A 16-year-old young girl lost her life during an alleged robbery on CR Swart Drive on Tuesday morning.

Capt Jethro Mtshali, the spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, said it is alleged the victim was travelling with her cousin when the incident occurred.

“It is alleged the victim and her cousin were walking by the bridge not far from the intersection on corner CR Swart Drive and Kelvin Street intersection,” said Mtshali.

“It seems they were on their way to board a taxi at the taxi rank when they were accosted by a suspect who forcefully robbed the deceased of her cellphone and stabbed her on the upper body during the alleged struggle.

“The victim was rushed to a nearby clinic at the Kempton Park Civic Centre where she was declared dead on arrival. A case of murder is under investigation and we hope to make an arrest soon.”

The cousin allegedly sustained no injuries during the incident.
