Thabo Bester scandal: SAPS nab another security guard
An official was yesterday arrested at the Mangaung Correctional Centre where Bester escaped from.

Yet another arrest was made in connection with the ‘great escape’ of Thabo Bester.
SAPS national spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe announced earlier today that another security guard employed by G4S, a 51-year-old man, was arrested at the Mangaung Correctional Centre yesterday.
He was arrested in connection with assisting an inmate to escape from lawful custody and defeating the ends of justice, and is expected to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
Bester – infamously dubbed the ‘Facebook rapist’ – once again made the headlines in March, years after he was convicted of murder and rape, when Police Minister Bheki Cele announced that a warrant of arrest was issued to track down the convict.
This after DNA results could not link the body that was found in Bester’s prison cell in Bloemfontein, to him. He supposedly died by suicide when reports suggested he set himself alight.
Co-accused in the matter
In the meantime, Bester’s partner Dr Nandipha Magudumana, her father Zolile Sekeleni, former G4S security guard Senohe Matsoara, and former G4S technician Teboho James Lipholo – have already been arrested in connection with the jailbreak.
Sekeleni is currently out on bail while the other accused (except Bester) remain in custody until May 3 and 4 for their bail hearing.
