Three suspects busted after high-speed chase in Centurion
Undercover police officers arrest three alleged thieves who used a remote jammer following a stakeout at a crime hotspot.

Police arrested three suspected thieves during a so-called intelligence-driven operation involving undercover officers at a crime hotspot in Centurion known for thefts out of motor vehicles on Friday morning.
The men were arrested following a short high-speed car chase in which the suspects skipped a red traffic light almost causing an accident, according to Lyttelton police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.
“During the operation, a suspicious vehicle was identified with three male occupants,” said Miller.
“After a short while, the undercover police officers saw them break into a parked vehicle and remove items from it.
When the suspects tried to leave, the officers sprang into action. “They sped off and failed to stop at the red light endangering other road users and almost caused a serious accident.
“After a short tactical engagement, the suspects’ white Toyota Etios was stopped and they were arrested.” Miller said police chased them from a petrol station garage by Route 21 Corporate Park, and caught them on Dam Road, close to the Rietvlei nature reserve.

He said upon searching the vehicle, police officers found the stolen property along with a remote jamming device. “We would like to remind residents that it is important to always physically check whether your vehicle is locked.” Lyttelton police station management thanked the officers for the long hours of work they put in into ensuring these suspects were caught.
The suspects will face charges of, theft out of motor vehicles, possession of suspected stolen property and possession of an electronic jamming device.
