Three suspects nabbed with explosives south of Joburg

Police gave a chase as suspects dash away in a car loaded with explosives.

Patrolling Johannesburg Metro Police Department CCTV Reaction officers stopped a suspicious vehicle on Main Reef Road and Church Street in Crown Mines, Johannesburg on Saturday, Rising Sun Lenasia reports.

Upon investigations, the JMPD officers found explosives similar to those used in ATM bombings and cash in transit robberies. The police seized explosives and three suspects were immediately arrested and detained to face criminal investigation.

JMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said, “Metro Police officers chased a car which ignored the red traffic light in the morning.

The officers became suspicious and gave a chase, and that’s when they have discovered explosives similar to those used in ATM bombings. Three suspects will appear in court on Monday for possession of explosives and reckless and negligent driving.”
