Giving testimony at the court during the bail application proceedings on Friday, the wife of the accused spoke of how he loves his children and would never do anything to harm them.
She told the court how her husband, through his non-governmental organisation, supports hundreds of destitute people.
This case, which has received much media and public attention continues on Tuesday October 6, where further bail arguments are to be presented.
The politician as well as a member of his family were arrested on Monday on allegations of the alleged rape of two minors.
They were both remanded in custody and will be back in court on Tuesday.
