Total number of Covid-19 cases in SA now stands at 106 108
The Department of Health reports 111 more Covid-19 related deaths

As of yesterday, 23 June, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa is at 106 108 with 4 523 new cases identified.
The case data per province is as follows:
Eastern Cape:
- 18 108 confirmed cases
- 17,1% of the country total
- 331 deaths
- 8 259 recoveries
Free State:
- 814 confirmed cases
- 0.8% of the country total
- 9 deaths
- 264 recoveries
Gauteng:
- 24 041 confirmed cases
- 22,7% of the country total
- 122 deaths
- 5 620 recoveries
KwaZulu-Natal:
- 5 625 confirmed cases
- 5,3% of the country total
- 91 deaths
- 2 859 recoveries
Limpopo:
- 622 confirmed cases
- 0,6% of the country total
- 5 deaths
- 270 recoveries
Mpumalanga:
- 662 confirmed cases
- 0.6% of the country total
- 2 deaths
- 181 recoveries
North West:
- 2 454 confirmed cases
- 2,3% of the country total
- 5 death
- 256 recoveries
Northern Cape:
- 270 confirmed cases
- 0.3% of the country total
- 1 death
- 112 recoveries
Western Cape:
- 53 512 confirmed cases
- 50.4% of the country total
- 1 536 deaths
- 37 234 recoveries
Unallocated cases:
- 0 confirmed cases
- 0.0% of the country total
A total number of 1 382 772 Covid-19 tests have been processed of which 29 596 tests have been conducted since the last report.
The Department of Health reports 111 more Covid-19 related deaths:
- 4 in KwaZulu-Natal
- 28 in Eastern Cape
- 78 in Western Cape
- 1 in Mpumalanga
This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in South Africa to 2 102.
The current mortality rate is at 2%.
The Department of Health extends its condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.
