Tragedy at Victoria Bay as drowning claims woman’s life

Emergency crews battled to save a woman after lifeguards pulled her from the surf, but she was declared dead at the scene.

Despite desperate rescue efforts by lifeguards and emergency services, a woman drowned at Victoria Bay yesterday.

George Herald reports that the unknown woman was spotted floating face down in the surf by lifeguards who swam in, pulled her from the water and immediately started CPR.

Metro Rescue and the National Sea Rescue Institute were contacted, and ER24 paramedics assisted with further intervention. Unfortunately, she was declared dead on the scene.

The woman’s identity has not yet been confirmed.
