Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga steps down
Msimanga had been the mayor of the capital since 2016 and talk of him stepping down has been doing the rounds as he concentrates on the campaign for the provincial top job.
Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga has officially stepped down as the first citizen of the capital city to focus on his attempt to be Gauteng premier, Rekord East reports.
This was confirmed by mayoral spokesperson Samkelo Mgobozi who said Msimanga was indeed stepping down.
Msimanga had been the mayor of the capital since 2016 and talk of him stepping down has been doing the rounds as he concentrates on the campaign for the provincial top job.
An official announcement is expected to be made during a media briefing by DA provincial leader John Moodey, DA provincial chairperson Mike Moriarty and Msimanga at the Nkululeko house DA headquarters in Johannesburg on Friday afternoon.
It was not yet clear who would replace Msimanga.
