Tshwane metro police officer linked with business robbery appears in court

TMPD said that an internal investigation was being conducted regardless of the court outcome.

A Tshwane metro police officer recently appeared in court after being linked to a business robbery.

Tshwane metro police department (TMPD) said in a statement the alleged robbery took place in Benoni last week.

“He was detained in Benoni where the alleged crime took place and has since appeared in court where his bail application was postponed.

“The TMPD is disenchanted to learn about this kind of criminal act from a constable who is mandated to serve and protect.”

TMPD said that an internal investigation was being conducted regardless of the court outcome.

“Necessary disciplinary procedures will be followed. The TMPD cannot allow a rotten few to tarnish the good work that is done by our hard-working officers who risk their lives daily to ensure the safety of Tshwane residents.

“To report misconduct by TMPD officers, contact 083-657-2998 or the TMPD call centre on 012-358-7095/7096.”
