Tshwane metro police officer passes away after collision with bus
Tributes and condolences poured in for the Tshwane metro police officer who died in a traffic accident in the north of Pretoria on Wednesday afternoon.

The metro officer, Eduard Sirakis, died when his bakkie collided with an A Re Yeng bus on the corner of Paul Kruger Street and Mansfield Avenue.
Ambu-Link emergency services spokesperson Xander Loubser said Sirakis was declared dead on the scene.
Five injured commuters were taken to hospital by Best Care and other emergency medical services.
The driver of the bus suffered slight injuries and was transported to hospital by Tshwane emergency services.
Loubser said the cause of the accident was unknown.

News of Sirakis’ death was shared on social media, with many colleagues and friends sending their condolences to his family.
He was described as a dedicated officer who loved his job.
Sirakis was off-duty at the time of his death.
“We are very saddened to lose one of our hard-working officers,” said Tshwane metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.
“He was deployed at special operations at the time of his passing. We would like to send our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.”
Mahamba said a case of culpable homicide was opened and will be investigated further by police.
