Two injured after train derails in KZN

Two people were taken to a hospital after a train derailed in KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend.

Paramedics attended to the scene of a train derailment on Sunday on the R103 near Nottingham Road in the Estcourt area.

“When medics arrived on scene they found that most of the carts were lying down an embankment. Two adult male occupants of the train were assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries,” said Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst.

After being treated on scene, the injured men were transported to hospital.

“Circumstances leading up to the incident are not yet known,” added Herbst.
