Two men shot at rugby stadium in Durban

An off-duty police officer has been arrested after he reportedly shot at two security officials around midnight.

Two men were shot at a stadium in central Durban on New Years Eve.

This according to Emer-G-Med Paramedics members who attended to the scene.

Spokesperson Kyle Van Reenen says the events leading up to the shooting are unclear.

Commenting on the incident, Van Reenen explains: “At this point in time, we can confirm that two men have been shot. They were taken to hospital in a moderate condition.”

“The circumstances surrounding the incident and the events proceeding it are unclear and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation,” continues Van Reenen.

SAPS was not available for comment at the time this article was published.

Meanwhile, eNCA reports that an off-duty police officer has been arrested for the shooting.
