A security guard and a member of the public were shot during a cash-in-transit heist on Van der Hoff Road in Hartbeespoort on Friday morning.

According to information so far, robbers in a Mercedes and presumably a taxi, intercepted the cash-in-transit security vehicle near the Ten Rooms informal settlement, causing it to crash and roll over.

According to eyewitnesses, four robbers jumped onto the overturned security vehicle and fired several shots through the window. A motorist who approached the scene, thinking it was an accident, was repeatedly shot at.

He managed to flee the scene. According to information a passenger in his car was wounded and was rushed to a hospital.

The robbers fled from the scene without cash being taken.

One of the security guards in the cash van was wounded and transported to hospital by Hartbeespoort Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). His condition is serious.

Law enforcement officials were on the scene, and Kormorant was waiting for more information from the police.

The security company did not want to comment on the incident.
