Update: KZN pub murder trial postponed to March

The murder trial of Nicolas le Roux, accused of killing his partner at a Westville pub, was postponed as the state awaits a ballistic report.

The trial of Nicolas le Roux, accused of murdering his partner Taryn le Roux at a Westville pub on September 15, resumed in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Highway Mail reports that Le Roux, a former special forces soldier, was denied bail in December after the court found he posed a significant flight risk.

During bail proceedings, the court heard evidence relating to a protection order against him, threatening messages allegedly sent to the deceased, and claims of prior violent behaviour.

The state requested a postponement, indicating it is still awaiting a ballistic report before proceeding with an indictment.

Le Roux appeared briefly via video link from prison. Magistrate Wendolyn Robertson explained the purpose of the proceedings to him, to which he responded that everything was ‘110% clear’.

The matter was postponed to March 6.
