VIDEO: Alleged robber caught climbing through gate
A man believed to be linked to a number of house break-ins has been caught on camera climbing through the gate of a house in Durban North.
In the footage posted by Marshall Security, the suspect is seen brazenly sliding through iron bars of the gate last Tuesday. He later emerges empty-handed, Northglen News reported.
Tyron Powell from the Marshall Security said the man had been identified in a number of house break-ins in the area.
“In this instance he did not make off with anything, but he has been involved in similar incidents in the area. He arrives on foot and is able to get onto the property,” Powell said.

Durban North police spokesperson Lieutenant Raymond Deokaran said CCTV footage helps deter offenders and could also lead to their prosecution.
“When cameras are properly positioned, they can deter offenders and reduce the level of crime. CCTV footage can often provide invaluable evidence that leads to the identification of offenders,” he said.
In a separate incident, CCTV footage emerged showing a gang of burglars stealing goods from a Sunward Park home in Boksburg, Gauteng, in February.

Shortly afterwards, one of the suspects is seen fiddling with the gate and eventually derails it with the help of his apparent accomplice.
Three of the alleged suspects are then seen stealing what appears to be plasma screens and other goods worth R30 000.
