VIDEO: Attempted burglary caught on camera

Video footage shows an attempted burglary in Parkhurst, Johannesburg.

Resident Greg Phillips told Rosebank Killarney Gazette he was woken by his dog barking at 11.15pm on March 17.

Phillips said he had noticed one of his camera angles was wrong, which made him look through the footage. The video shows the suspect moving extremely slowly to avoid detection by external beams, explained Phillips.

“I rewound it and found this footage, as well as footage of him moving the camera with the pool net,” he said. Phillips confirmed he had since upgraded his security fence, covering the open area.

Parkview police spokesperson Lloyd Ramavho urged residents to report such incidents to the police.

Rudi Jeggle said the footage was captured by his father’s surveillance camera from above his front entrance.

“This is the second attempt of robbery on a Saturday afternoon. The previous attempt was while my parents were actually at home. It’s pretty frightening to see how badly these guys want to get in. Please SHARE this video so the world can see these scum bags faces,” Jeggle said.
