VIDEO: Brazen caravan theft caught on camera

CCTV footage has emerged showing two suspects stealing a caravan at Kempton Caravans, on the East Rand.

In the video captured on Sunday morning, the suspects`vehicle is seen pulling over in front on the Kempton Caravans premises. The suspects seem to apparently be inspecting the gate and locks of the gate before breaking into the premises, Bedfordview Edenvale News reported.

The suspects are then seen using a bolt cutter to cut the lock off the pedestrian gate.

Kempton Caravans manager, Clive Van Der Vyver said the suspects visited their premises multiple times earlier on Sunday with a white single cab Isuzu before the caravan was stolen.

“The footage revealed that after a few inspections by the suspects, they came back and used a bolt cutter to cut the lock off the pedestrian gate and replaced it with one of their own locks,” added Van Der Vyver.

The suspects also used the bolt cutter to break the lock on the main sliding gate.

“The final visit by the suspects was at 14:09. The alarm was triggered when the sliding gate was opened. The suspects reversed the vehicle onto the premises where one of the suspects hitched the caravan up to the vehicle and drove off, turning left into Minuach Street,” said Van Der Vyver.

Van Der Vyver said a reward of R5 000 is offered to anyone who has information that could lead to the recovery of the caravan, or the successful arrest and conviction of the suspects.
The caravan’s registration number is DXN 710 FS.

A case of theft theft was opened and investigations are underway.
