Video: East Rand family murders accused back in court

Anton Bouwer’s quadruple murder case was postponed, with links to a 2011 case emerging during today’s proceedings.

The quadruple murder case against former Pomona businessman Anton Bouwer was postponed again when he appeared in the Kempton Park Regional Court this morning.

Kempton Express reports the matter was postponed to February 7.

During today’s proceedings, the court heard that the state had made a positive link between Bouwer and another case from 2011. Details of the 2011 case were not revealed and will form part of future proceedings.

The state also confirmed receiving the post-mortem results for the four victims. Bouwer is accused of killing his parents, Bettie (73) and Robert (78), at their Bredell home on January 22. He is further accused of killing his stepdaughter, Natasha Bouwer (22), and domestic worker, Elizabeth Mahlangu (56), on the same day at a house in Fairleads, Benoni.

He also faces an attempted murder charge in connection with the shooting of his wife, Adelle, also on the same day.

Bouwer abandoned his bail application during a court appearance on March 5 and was remanded in custody today until his next court appearance.
