VIDEO: Emergency services respond to warehouse fire in Riverhorse Valley

Despite the announcement KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala that government is working hard to stop the riots, theft, arson and looting has continued unabated.

A large warehouse reported to be the Massmart distribution centre in Riverhorse Valley is currently up in flames.

On Tuesday looters targeted several warehouses on Queen Nandi Drive including the Massmart building.

Despite the announcement KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala that government is working hard to stop the riots, theft, arson and looting has continued unabated.

Spokesperson for Emer-G Med Paramedics, Kyle van Reenen, residents reported hearing explosions in the Queen Nandi Drive area.

“I can confirm a large warehouse is on fire in the Riverhorse Valley area. Emergency services are on scene to respond to the blaze. At this stage there are unconfirmed reports it is the Massmart building but that is yet to be confirmed. Residents reported hearing explosions in Durban North and its surrounds,” he said.

On Tuesday, the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) and the Provincial Joint Operational and Intelligence Structures (PROVJOINTS) intensified deployment at key economic centres, highways and strategic areas that lead to hospitals, the port of Durban and other national key points.
