VIDEO: On board footage shows fatal bus crash

Footage has emerged showing a head-on collision between a car and a bus in eNseleni, KwaZulu-Natal in which two people were killed.

The occupants travelling in the car died on impact when they slammed into the bus travelling from eNseleni to Richards Bay at about 6pm on Thursday, Zululand Observer reported.

Manager of Ikhwezi Bus Service, Fanie Joubert, said he was deeply saddened by the deaths and expressed the urgent need for a barrier line on the stretch of road near eNseleni, where other fatal crashes have happened.

“Footage from the dashboard camera inside the bus revealed our bus driver was travelling on the right side of the road and at the correct speed limit,” Joubert said.

“I wish it would become compulsory for all passenger and goods vehicles to have factory-fitted video cameras installed,” he added. “This is a dangerous section, and it would greatly reduce the high accident rate if speed humps could be placed on this section of the road.”
