VIDEO: Truck allegedly petrol-bombed and looted in Ermelo
A truck was allegedly petrol-bombed and looted last night, 5 May.
According to Mr Theo Craven, district manager for SACCW Gert Sibande Region, the incident took place in Ext 33.
Reports of protest action in the area are circulating on crime watch groups.
A voice note that was obtained from one of the groups indicated that there were several picketers at the site looting the truck as it was burning.
The person who sent the voice note indicated that the fire brigade and police are also on the scene, but stated that the fire brigade could not approach as yet as their vehicle might also be at risk.
The Highvelder’s journalist, René Joubert – who was on the scene, however, indicated that the Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Services have in the meantime moved in to extinguish the truck.
Police are monitoring the situation.
