Video: Woman found murdered in Mossel Bay flat

While police have recovered a murder victim’s stolen vehicle, the suspect is still on the run.

The Mossel Bay Police have opened a case of murder and theft of a motor vehicle following the death of a 62-year-old woman in Crook Street near the town centre yesterday.

Mossel Bay Advertiser reports that the Southern Cape Police spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies, says the police were deployed to the victim’s flat at Ocean View at about 11:00.

They had to force open the door and discovered the victim’s body with an open wound to the neck.

Medical personnel declared her dead on the scene.

Crime scene experts combed the flat for clues, while follow-up investigations led the police to Moonie Street in KwaNonqaba, where the victim’s vehicle was found abandoned.

Spies says more charges could be added as the case unfolds, however, the suspect remains at large.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Francois Pick, on 079 893 9937 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
