Watch: Alleged KZN house burglar found hiding in wine cellar

In an attempt to hide from security officials, a man hid in the cellar with the stolen goods still in his possession.

A man who is believed to be a repeat offender as he was apprehended at the same property – in the Durban North area – last November for house burglary, was yet again caught red-handed.

This time, he took cover underneath the house with the stolen goods.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell said the dispatch centre recently received a call from a client on Kenneth Kaunda Road in the area, who reported that their gardener noticed someone breaking into their house.

“Our team members arrived on the scene to find the suspect hiding in the cellar under the house with the stolen items in his possession. Members crawled under the house where the suspect was cornered. He was immediately apprehended,” explained Powell.

The suspect had forced open a kitchen window to get into the house.

He was arrested in connection with theft and house burglary and taken to the Durban North Police Station.
