A blanket of mist covered the N12 highway earlier this morning, which led to a horrific accident with 12 to 15 vehicles involved.

The accident occurred just after the S-bend before the Greenside bridge in eMalahleni.

It is believed that three lives were lost, and numerous people seriously injured. A truck that was involved in the accident burst into flames.

The scene is still active and all relevant role players are currently on the scene.

The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison’s spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, says “The visibility has been extremely impacted and motorists who are on that road are encouraged to be patient. The law enforcement and emergency personnel are currently working on the scene.
