WATCH: Fire at golf course in Durban leaves one injured

A fire broke out at Beachwood Country Club on Wednesday afternoon, destroying more than 50 golf carts.

A fire that broke out at Beachwood Country Club in Durban yesterday afternoon has destroyed 54 golf carts, and left one person with minor injuries.

The club’s brand ambassador, Ilza Oosthuizen told Northglen News the fire started at about 17:00 in the shed where the golf carts are stored.

“There were over 54 golf carts in the shed which were all destroyed by the fire. We are not sure of the cost of the damage,” she said.

Oosthuizen added that the eThekwini Fire Department responded to the blaze within minutes and extinguished the fire.

“The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage but an investigation will be conducted,” she said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, said one person sustained minor injuries due to the blaze and was treated on scene.

“One person sustained minor injuries while trying to douse the flames, and refused further treatment,” he said.
