A structure fire in Northey Street in the Central Business District of eMalahleni has claimed the life of one person last night.

The cause of the fire is still unknown at this stage. The identity of the victim has not been made public yet.

Emalahleni Fire Department, Witbank SAPS and the South African Community Crime Watch were on the scene to assist.

• On July 8, a mother and her two children aged four and five, died when their house in Klarinet Extension 3 in eMalahleni caught fire.

Police later said it is suspected that a stove, the family used to keep warm, was the cause of the fire.
