WATCH: Fire damages Sandton bar

A fire was reported on February 26 at the Greenhouse Bar in Sandown.

According to the spokesperson of the City of Johannesburg’s Emergency Management Service (EMS), Nana Radebe, the emergency service received a call from one of the workers of the establishment around 22:23.

“We were called to assist in extinguishing a reported fire outbreak at a bar in Sandton. On arrival, the fire had already been extinguished and there were no reports of any fatalities and serious injuries.”

Investigation on what caused the fire is still in progress.

The bar has since said in a statement on its Facebook page that all customers and staff were evacuated safely.

“Fortunately, due to the mostly superficial damage, we will be up and running soon.”
