Watch: Gunman enters Durban school, intimidates learners

The armed man was arrested after he allegedly intimidated learners and teachers at a boys’ high school.

A video of an armed man disrupting a lesson at Grosvenor Boys’ High School in Durban on Monday led to the arrest of the man thanks to a swift response from the Bluff Community Policing Forum (CPF).

Ward 66 councillor Zoe Solomon said she was alarmed that heads at the school never reported the incident that occurred during teaching time to the police.

“The CPF will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and the school’s lack of reporting as serious intrusion,” said Solomon.

A source close to the investigation revealed that as the perpetrator tried to intimidate the learners, the teacher approached him at the entrance of the classroom, and he blew marijuana into the teacher’s face.

Attempts to get comment from the school were unsuccessful.
