WATCH: Heavy rains and flooding see the closure of M4 in KZN

According to the South African Weather Service, the heavy rains are set to last from 6 am to 9 pm on Monday.

Motorists are urged to seek an alternative route following the closure of the M4 moments ago between the Sibaya Circle and Umhlanga, North Coast Courier reports.

Netcare 911 have confirmed that the road has been closed as a result of the heavy rains which have caused flooding.

Motorists have been advised to use the N2 as an alternative route.

Meanwhile, heavy rains continue to lash many parts of the province and motorists are advised to maintain a safe following distance at all times.

According to the South African Weather Service, the heavy rains are set to last from 6 am to 9 pm on Monday.

Predictions suggest that more rain is expected throughout the week.
