Watch: Massive search intensifies for missing North-West University student

A joint law enforcement task force has ramped up operations in Meyerton to locate a third-year student who vanished on her way to a licensing department last month.

The search for 21-year-old Naledi Zwane, a third-year student at North-West University (NWU), has intensified following her disappearance in Meyerton last month, reports Vaalweekblad.

According to the Meyerton Community Police Forum (CPF), Zwane was last seen on June 9 at around 13:00 on her way to the local licensing department, where she vanished without a trace. The CPF has made an urgent appeal to the public for any information that could assist in locating the missing student.

At the time of her disappearance, Zwane was wearing black pants and Adidas trainers. She is described as having straight black hair.

A video released by local security company Sekuriteit Sonder Grense confirmed that the search operation has been scaled up. Joint search parties are currently being conducted by the South African Police Service, private security firms, independent investigators and CPF volunteers.
