Watch: Richards Bay snake catcher wrestles with 1.8m forest cobra

Peter ‘Daring’ Daniel says it was an 'easy catch' when he safely caught a 1.8m female cobra in a dustbin area of a complex.

Snake season is certainly not over, and Richards Bay’s Peter ‘Daring’ Daniel on Friday evening enjoyed a quick tussle with a forest cobra at a residential complex in Arboretum in KZN.

In what turned out to be an ‘easy catch’ according to Daniel, the 1.8m female cobra had taken refuge in the dustbin area of the complex and required some prising out.

Many hands make light work, as they say, and, while Daniel had some assistance in the form of having dustbins moved out of the way and a torch shone into the area in the fading light, he secured the snake with his tongs and gently eked her out of her hiding place.

Seconds later, the cobra was safely in a bucket and ready for relocation.
