A youngster from Mpumalanga is reaching for the stars, hoping to become a commentator for the Soccer World Cup and Premier Soccer League.
Teenager Katlego Moraku (15) has made a name for himself as a kasi football commentator in Siligane in KaBokweni, Mpumalanga.

“I used to watch football matches on TV and tried to imitate the commentators. I love the thrill of the game and I just want see myself going far. I have had the privilege to meet my favourite soccer commentator, Phumlane Malambe, at a local tournament.”
He says his goals include being in the commentating boxes of the biggest leagues.
“I hope to commentate for one of the well-known radio stations in Mpumalanga, Ligwalagwala FM, and on bigger tournaments such as the Fifa World Cup, Premier Soccer League and the Africa Cup of Nations,” he says.
He says local tournament organisers pay him for commentating at their games on weekends, and he uses that money for school needs.
With his passion for soccer, the teen wishes to further his studies in sports after matric. He is in Grade Eight at Siligane Secondary School outside KaBokweni.
According to Katlego’s mom, Francina Nyakane, his family is delighted about his talent and hopes he gets opportunities that will lead him to great heights.
“I would be very happy if he could be recognised by relevant people who would guide him. I will not stop him from doing what he loves, because we believe he will make a great impact in the sports industry. His success might even change our home situation in the near future. We always encourage him to not neglect his school work as well, because we can see that nothing will stop him from being a commentator.”
