Woman abandoned in Durban North 2 hours after hijacking

A woman who had to endure two hours with her hijackers while being driven around Durban was pushed out of her car.

A motorist is traumatised following a two-hour hijacking ordeal on Tuesday night.

Swift Private Security spokesperson Sanveer Sooklall says they received multiple calls and messages requesting assistance on Belmont Road at Effingham Heights in Durban North where a woman was pushed out of a vehicle.

“The Swift Private Security Control Centre promptly dispatched several armed response officers, who arrived immediately on the scene,” he says.

According to the traumatised victim, she was at Durban Beachfront at 16:00 in her silver Toyota Aygo when she was hijacked by three armed robbers in a white Suzuki, he adds.

The hijackers threatened her and demanded money, forcing her to make multiple withdrawals.

“After driving her around Durban for approximately two hours, the suspects pushed her out of the vehicle. She then ran to the nearest house for help. Fortunately, the victim was not physically harmed, but was left highly traumatised by the ordeal,” adds Sooklall.

SAPS soon arrived at the scene and transported the victim to the police station.
