Woman allegedly kills boyfriend after fight in Randfontein

The man was reportedly intoxicated and started beating her with his fist, to which she allegedly retaliated.

A 31-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of her boyfriend in Homelake, Randfontein.

The incident occurred at about midnight on 15th Street last Thursday.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks says the victim was declared dead at the scene.

“It is alleged her 36-year-old boyfriend came home from work under the influence of alcohol. He started to fight with his girlfriend and [reportedly used] his fists for no reason.

“The girlfriend then grabbed a bottle, broke it, and stabbed the victim in the neck. The emergency services were contacted and declared the victim dead on the scene,” adds Hendricks who added that a case of murder was opened.

Acting Randfontein Police Station commander Colonel Hazel Makhafola pleaded with the community not to use violence and rather walk away when they argue.

He also urges members of the community to make use of the Victim Friendly Room at the Randfontein Police Station if they need to.
