Woman ‘kills’ boyfriend’s rumoured lover
A KwaZulu-Natal woman has been arrested after allegedly stabbing and killing another woman believed to have had an affair with her boyfriend.
The suspect assaulted the 28-year-old victim with a knobkerrie before stabbing her, Phoenix Sunreported.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) head Prem Balram confirmed the incident, stating that a motorist drove to the RUSA operations centre in Verulam to inform reaction officers that he witnessed a stabbing, and that a victim was lying on the grass alongside the road.
According to Balram, the victim had bled profusely, and the area around her was covered in blood. Paramedics later confirmed the woman was stabbed on her femur artery and bled out quickly. Balram stated an Okapi knife, a pole and a knobkerrie were found on the scene of the crime.
Balram added while paramedics were busy working on the victim, reaction officers got a description of the suspect and searched the area.
“The suspect was spotted in Everest Heights. Reaction officer Claude Munien intercepted her and arrested the suspect,” he said.
Balram added the suspect appeared to have planned the murder, as the knife found on the scene was brand new, and the suspect had known the route taken by the victim after work.
He said while on the scene, the suspect’s boyfriend arrived to find his girlfriend in handcuffs. He added the boyfriend informed him he had two children with the suspect and was surprised his girlfriend had murdered the victim, as he had spoken to her once and hardly knew her.
Balram said the suspect confirmed she stabbed the victim over a rumour she had heard and had not confirmed.
Police are investigating a case of murder.
