Woman stabs boyfriend to death in front of police

A case of murder is under investigation after a 36-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death in the presence of police officers in Tembisa, on the East Rand.

Tembisa police spokesperson Constable Zukiswa Mgijim said police officers were summoned to the couple’s residence in Vusimuzi Section prior to the man’s death on Sunday, Tembisan reported.

“On arrival, officers found the couple in a heated argument. Police tried to resolve the matter between the two. Suddenly, the woman grabbed a sharp object and stabbed her boyfriend in the upper body,” added Mgijim

She said paramedics arrived on the scene, and the unidentified man was certified dead.

“The woman was arrested and detained at the Tembisa Police Station. We urge members of the community not to resort to fights and to report acts of domestic violence to the police,” she said.

Last month, a woman, 34, was arrested for allegedly killing her boyfriend after an argument over a cigarette at the Skiet informal settlement, near Butterworth, Eastern Cape.

Captain Jackson Manatha said the 32-year-old boyfriend was stabbed on his upper body and died instantly. Police were informed of the murder and rushed to the scene of the crime, where they still found the suspect on the scene.

“The initial investigation of the police led to the arrest of the suspect, who is the girlfriend of the deceased. Police were reliably informed that the motive for the murder is that the deceased allegedly failed to give the suspect a cigarette so that she can smoke.”

The knife the woman allegedly used to stab her boyfriend was found at the scene.
