World Water Week: Water and sanitation minister welcomes SA delegates to Stockholm

Minister Mchunu says the conference offers the opportunity to share experiences and learn new approaches to water related issues.

A special welcoming event for South African delegates was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Stockholm on Sunday, where SA’s Minister of Water and Sanitation, Senzo Mchunu, spoke about the importance of attending the 2022 Stockholm World Water Week.

The event was opened by Department of Water and Sanitation Director-General Dr Sean Phillips before South African Ambassador to Sweden Brigitte Mabandla welcomed her fellow South Africans to Stockholm and Sweden.

She was followed by Mchunu, who said he was excited to be in Sweden for the conference.

“Everybody should want to be here, to share experiences, and to learn new ways of doing things, whether it’s in technology or any other matter related to water,” Mchunu said.

In an interview after the event, he spoke more on the importance of South African participation in the week-long conference.
